In Memory of Christopher Getz: Scholarship Fund for His Kids

On Saturday, May 24th, 2025, I lost my Daddy unexpectedly due to a massive heart attack. My father, Christopher William Getz, was a man who chased God with all his heart. He loved his family and provided up until the day he went to be with the Lord. My hardworking Daddy didn’t believe in “retirement,” but he planned to eventually retire from his job and do full time mission work with my Mom.

He was the kind of man who would ask you your story, tell you about Jesus, and make you laugh all at the same time. My Daddy was the same person in ministry as he was at home. If you’re reading this, he would want you to know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

He demonstrated his love for us by giving us his time and showing us how to be a Christ-Follower. I can’t remember a time when he missed a soccer game, a presentation, or a birthday. He enjoyed games with his family, uninterrupted dinners, and long road trips. Looking through photos, it was hard to find a photo without his family in it.

Growing up my Daddy always encouraged us to chase after God first. He never cared what career we picked or what our job was; he just wanted us to seek first the kingdom (Matt 6:33). He promised to pay for all of our colleges, but in light of recent events that will not be possible. In lieu of flowers, our family has decided to fundraise scholarship money so that Caleb (16), Kira (15), and Cooper (13) can go to college. We could not think of a better way to honor his legacy than by funding his children’s callings.
